Keep your mouth healthy! is the national education project on oral health for primary school students.

With the educational project Keep your mouth healthy! the Ivory Cross wants to emphasize the importance of oral health to teachers, young children and their parents. With the help of hundreds of voluntary dental care professionals, we provide thousands of brushing lessons in school classes every year. To reach as many children as possible, the help of dental care professionals is needed. More than 3,000 volunteers and many thousands of teachers have already given a cleaning lesson to more than 900,000 children in more than 30,000 school classes.

The goal of the Ivory Cross is a healthy mouth. The deteriorating situation of children's teeth in our country was the reason for developing the project in 2007. The enormous health gain that oral care professionals have collectively achieved in the past half century has come to a standstill. Caries is still present in many children. This applies in particular to children who cannot reach the dental care professional in time. The aim of the teaching project is to promote a healthy mouth by reducing caries (cavities) and tooth erosion and to stimulate dental visits. Furthermore, the Ivory Cross wants to create awareness among children of their own influence on (oral) health. Children who learn to take good care of their mouths from a young age are also more skilled at prevention and self-care in adulthood.
