Courses
Het Ivoren Kruis offers practical courses that are inspiring for all players in the dental team, such as dentists, dental hygienists and (prevention) assistants.
Course Gewoon Gaaf in depth for the (prevention) assistant
Research (Volgenant et al, 2019) shows that of all oral care providers, (prevention) assistants (41%) are the most involved in the implementation of Gewoon Gaaf in practice.
The survey results, held among oral care providers who followed the Gewoon Gaaf course, show that (prevention) assistants in particular have a need for more theoretical knowledge about the 'Basic Caries Prevention Advice' and the 'Additional Caries Prevention Advice'. They also indicated that they wanted to practice more with motivational interviewing (MI). That is why we started the course in 2024: 'Gewoon Gaaf in depth for the (prevention) assistant'.
Parts Course
The course is based on the 3 pillars of 'The Caries Prevention Advice' and 'The Caries Prevention Supplementary Advice', namely:
- Oral hygiene
- Fluoride use
- Power supply
During the course, case studies will be used to practice how to discuss these 3 pillars, via MI, with the children and their parents.
Although the 'just in depth' course has been developed for assistants and prevention assistants, dental hygienists and dentists are of course also very welcome.
