Mission

Our mission is twofold:
As a patient organization, we promote optimal oral health by actively encouraging healthy behavior and a healthy lifestyle among all Dutch people.
As a scientific association of oral care professionals, we expand knowledge about scientifically proven prevention of oral diseases and contribute to relevant scientific research.

Ambition

The ambition of the Ivory Cross is to improve oral health in the Netherlands to such a high level that a healthy mouth and healthy teeth are achievable for every resident from a young age and well into old age.

Vision

The Ivory Cross strives for a society in which oral health is self-evident and preventive oral care is widely supported. Sustainable oral health begins with awareness, knowledge sharing, and collaboration. That's why we're committed to a future in which:

• Every resident of the Netherlands has access to effective preventive and curative oral care, regardless of background or socio-economic status.
• Dental professionals have up-to-date, scientifically substantiated knowledge and actively apply it in their practice.
• Healthy behavior and a healthy lifestyle are encouraged by an environment that encourages good oral care choices.
• Prevention is central to policy, education and practice, supported by interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside healthcare.
• Vulnerable groups receive extra attention, so that health differences are reduced and social participation is promoted.
• Scientific research and practical experience combine to provide concrete advice and interventions that contribute to a healthier mouth for everyone.

The Ivory Cross aims to be the connecting force between science, practice, patients, and society, with one goal: a healthy mouth as the norm for everyone, from young to old.
