Prof. Dr. A. (Albert) Feilzer – Chairman
Prof. Dr. A. (Albert) Feilzer has been involved with the Ivory Cross as a board member since November 2018. On December 8, 2022, Albert Feilzer was appointed chairman of the board by the AGM
Albert Feilzer studied dentistry at the University of Amsterdam. From 1982 to 1998 he worked part-time as a general practitioner in his own group practice in Amsterdam and as a research assistant at the Faculty of Dentistry of the UvA, later the partnership of the faculties of dentistry at the University of Amsterdam and the Free University (Academic Amsterdam Center for Dentistry; ACTA). In 1989 he obtained his doctorate with honors with the thesis “Polymerization Shrinkage Stress in Dental Composite Resin Restorations, an in vitro investigation”. In 1998 he started working full-time at the University, from this date until April 1, 2001 he held the position of Director of Care at ACTA (half-time) and was also a scientific assistant at the Department of Dental Materials Sciences at ACTA.
In September 1999 he was appointed by the UvA at ACTA as professor by special appointment of 'Quality of dental materials, instruments and techniques', a chair established by the Dutch Society for the Promotion of Dentistry (NMT, now KNMT). On 1 March 2003, this chair was converted into a full professorship in Dental Materials Sciences.
From September 2001 to January 1, 2007, he also held an endowed professorship in Standardization and Normalization at the Faculty of Business Administration of Erasmus University Rotterdam. During this special professorship, the project “Platform Knowability of Standardization and Norms” (Ministry of Economic Affairs) was carried out under his chairmanship.
From July 1, 2008 to June 1, 2009, he chaired ACTA's Department of Functional Studies and Restorative Dentistry.
Since 1 June 2009 he has been dean of the partnership between the faculties of dentistry of the University of Amsterdam and the Free University (Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam; ACTA). In this position, he is a member of the Board of Deans/PhDs of the VU and the UvA. Since 2017, he has also held the position of pro-rector and chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University Sports Center (USC) within the UvA. Since 2015, he has been responsible for the VU-wide policy on internationalization within the VU (dean of internationalisation).
His scientific interest lies on the one hand in the danger of biomaterials used in the human body, varying from dental filling materials, toothpastes to implants and cosmetics, and on the other hand in the regulations in this area (various European Directives).
His most important additional function is membership of the SER committee 'limit values' (since 2015).

AJ (Joris) de la Court – Treasurer as of July 1, 2025
AJ (Joris) de la Court studied dentistry at the Catholic University of Nijmegen. From 1995 to 2014 he worked as a military dentist in the Royal Netherlands Navy, where he combined work as a dentist with management positions and was involved in, among other things, acquisition and renovation projects for new dental centers. He was deployed several times during that period. In addition, from 2008 to 2014 he gained international experience as secretary of the Expert Panel Dental Services (EP DS) of NATO and was involved in the development and revision of various NATO documents, including Stanags (Standardization Agreements).
He completed his training as a Dentist-Gnathologist at the University Medical Center in Utrecht (2003-2006) combined with a 'learning on the job' trajectory for gnathology and maxillofacial prosthetics at the Center for Special Dentistry of the Radboudumc. After obtaining his recognition as a Dentist-Gnathologist, he remained affiliated with the CBT of the Radboudumc and from 2014 to 2018 he fulfilled the position of coordinator of maxillofacial prosthetics in combination with the treatment of patients with complex pain complaints and prosthetic problems. As a university lecturer, he was involved in student education for, among other things, the prosthetics and integral dentistry blocks and has managed the Academic Clinic Oral Care Arnhem (AKMA).
Since 2019 he has started his PhD research on the subject: 'Oral Health Care development in the Dutch Armed Forces' and he works 2 days a week in the dental clinic in Schaarsbergen of the Defense Dental Service.
As a secondary function, he is a member of the Defence Healthcare Complaints Committee (KCGD), a member of the NVGPT Dentist-Gnathologist Committee and he is chairman of the Appollonia 'vulnerat atque sanat' foundation.

JW (Hans) Prakken – Treasurer and dentist
JW (Hans) Prakken (1956) graduated from the University of Groningen in 1980. He is a general practitioner in his group practice in Emmen; a large practice with 25 employees. From his additional position as a hospital dentist, he works in several hospitals. There he is involved, among other things, in the treatment of patients with apnea problems and with special care groups. In addition, Hans Prakken is chairman of the Mondzorg Monitor and a member of the VWS advisory committee for Foreign Qualified Dentists. As for preventive dentistry, after many years of hands-on experience and seeing job-creating repair cycles, he has come to see the importance of prevention and preventing problems even more. Expressions such as “The best filling is no filling”, “The best implant is your own tooth”, “If we are not careful, we will go down with the patient while drilling”, “Unfortunately we too often think that we have to fight caries with the drill” and “We are developing more and more high-tech repair techniques, but caries goes further” etc. are statements that reinforce his focus on a more preventive approach. Hans Prakken is also a member of the Regional Disciplinary Court.
Hans has been a board member of the Ivoren Cross since the end of 2016 and holds the role of treasurer on the board.

D. (Dorothée) Quant – board member and dental hygienist
Dorothée Quant was appointed as a board member on December 8, 2022 by the ALV.
Dorothée Quant was trained as a dental hygienist and was a teacher for a long time at the Oral Hygiene course in Utrecht. She is well known at the Ivoren Kruis as one of the teachers of the Gewoon Gaaf courses.

Sanae el Moussaoui – 'student committee' portfolio
Sanae el Moussaoui was appointed board member by the AGM on December 12, 2024.
Sanae is looking forward to contributing to the further development of the Ivoren Kruis and oral care in the Netherlands. She has been a member of the student committee since March 2023 and has been the chairwoman with great enthusiasm since September 2024. As a fourth-year student of Oral Health Care in Amsterdam, Sanae gets a lot of energy from her role within the Ivoren Kruis. She is motivated to support the mission of the Ivoren Kruis, together with the board and the student committee.
